Dental Surgeon

David Slaney – BDS London (England), LDS, RCS. GDC no: 58620


David has worked here in Swanley at the surgery for over 20 years, becoming Principal Dentist in 1998 when he renamed it White Oak Dental Practice (previously Dunelm). He trained as a dental surgeon at Kings College Hospital, London, qualifying in 1983. David practices minimal intervention dentistry and says “don’t be embarrassed about the state of your mouth we are here to help”.

He has had years of general dental treatment experience and will be able to help whatever your dental need is. Professionally David was on the committee for the local Bromley and Beckenham branch section of the British Dental Association (BDA) and was in office as it's Chairman for a year in 2015/16. He always keeps up to date with his clinical professional development and new treatments. In 2005 David attended a Bicon Implantology course in South Africa and in 2010 gained a Certificate in Implantology after completing a 12 month Implantology course with the GIFT Organisation associated to Warwick University. He has now placed over 200 implants. David lives in Beckenham with his wife and two children.

Dental surgeons

Clive Brazier – BDS London (England). GDC no: 81095


Clive joined the team in December 2011. He was brought up locally going to school at St. Olave’s Grammar school in Orpington, Kent. Clive trained as a dental surgeon at Guys Hospital, London qualifying in 2002. After his VT year he worked as a house surgeon in oral surgery, paediatrics and radiology for Guys and St. Thomas’s Trust. He then worked as a general dental practitioner in Chislehurst for 7 years before joining us here in Swanley.

Professionally Clive has been Chairman and is currently Treasurer for the local Bromley and Beckenham branch of the British Dental Association (BDA).Clive is keen to keep up to date with his clinical professional development and is qualified in orthodontic treatment for adults using the INMAN aligner technique. He is very approachable and is great at relating to patients.

Kunal Shah – BDS Hons (London), Pg Dip. GDC no: 244105

Kunal graduated with Honours from King’s College London; achieving a scholarship and numerous awards along the way as well as being a finalist to the University of London Gold Medal. While completing his degree, he was involved in a research project with Professor Tara Renton, exploring the impact of trigeminal nerve injuries on quality of life, which was published in the Journal of Orofacial Pain.

Before joining our team, Kunal worked in New Romney for several years where he was also a foundation dentist trainer between September 2017 and August 2018 for Kent, Surrey and Sussex East scheme. Kunal has a keen interest in providing a patient-centred approach to his dentistry and recognises the importance of being able to talk to his patients and making them feel at ease.

His particular interests are restorative, prosthodontics, invisalign and restorative dentistry including tooth whitening, cosmetic work and dentures.


Marcela Basford – RDH, RDT London (England). GDC no: 121751


Marcela qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist at Kings College Hospital, London.

Marcela's treatments include scaling and polishing, periodontal treatment and dental health education. The aim of her work is to treat and prevent periodontal disease and caries in both adults and children. Marcela is also able to carry out fissure sealants, dental x-rays, small fillings and provision of mouth guards.

Part of her training at Kings College was treating young and nervous children in the paediatric department and within the settings of a local dental community.

Marcela joined White Oak Dental Practice in April 2011 and is a very popular addition to the practice. In her spare time Marcela is busy being a wife and raising her daughter.


At the ‘frontline’ receptionists duties include meeting and greeting all our patients, assisting with their needs and ensuring they are all well cared for. They also undertake various administrative tasks such as booking appointments, taking payments and dealing with initial enquiries and enquiries about our practice membership plans. Our receptionists take pride in providing you with a relaxing environment and a warm and friendly experience at White Oak Dental Practice.

Diane Heather

Diane is a very experienced receptionist and has worked here for over 17 years. Di lives locally and is married to John and they have two grown up children.

Julie Nankivell-Long

Julie is a very experienced receptionist and has worked here for over 16 years. Julie lives locally and is married to Jeff and they have two children.

Linda Hall

Linda has joined us as our 'Girl Friday', she has previous experience of both dental nursing and general nursing and is a welcome addition to our team.

Dental Nurses

Nurse’s duties involve all aspects of patient care; preparing the dental surgeries with sterilised, appropriate instruments and providing chair side assistance to David, Clive & Shivani as well as meeting and reassuring patients. Our nurses are also able to work on reception whenever required.

Amanda Smith – GDC no: 111133

Amanda is a very experienced registered dental nurse having started work here at White Oak Dental Practice in 1986. She left in 1995 to have her son Dillon. She has since worked in two other local dental practices and happily returned to join us in 2006.

Barbara Jarrett – GDC no: 120291

Barbara is an experienced registered dental nurse and has worked here at White Oak Dental Practice for over 18 years. She is married to Roy and has two grown up children.

Nicki Webb – GDC no: 123606

Nicky joined us as a dental nurse when she was 18 and worked here for 3 years before leaving to have her three children. Nicky rejoined us here at White Oak Dental Practice in 2005. She has undertaken the dental nursing course achieving the National Certificate of Dental Nursing in 2006. Nicky lives locally and is married with two girls and a boy.

Vivienne Mason – GDC no: 121627

Vivienne started dental nursing 37 years ago for Mr Puller in St. Paul’s Cray. She then joined Mr John Weedy here when just 17 and nursed with David Slaney when he joined the practice. Viv left to have her children in 1990 and then qualified and worked as a pre-school teacher. In 2007 we were very pleased to persuade her to rejoin us here. Viv is a registered dental nurse but currently works mostly on reception and carries out many of the administrative tasks. She lives in Orpington, is married to David and has two children.

Sue works behind the scenes, her responsibilities include the non-clinical management tasks. Sue is married to David the Principal dentist.
